The popular international science magazine
NewScientist, selected the winner of the Huygens Image Contest 2013 as the 'Picture of the Day'!
The image was acquired and processed with the Huygens software by Ms. Karin Panser of the group of Andrew Straw at the IMP Vienna (Austria). It represents structures called ommatidia that make up the compound eye of
Drosophila melanogaster.
The image was selected by the SVI staff for the Huygens Image Contest 2013 and receives now worldwide attention in NewScientist (
see here ).
The beautiful image of Karin Panser also received attention from the
Austria Life Science Branch and from the
IMP Vienna.
