Non-linearity

Non-linear systems are those that can not be represented or modelized by using linear functions, because (at least) one of the required properties for linearity is not fulfilled (Linear System), usually the additivity. Typically, in a non-linear microscopy system (like DIC or SHG) is not true that

f (x + y) = f(x) + f(y).
